Koh Samui’s hospitality and lifestyle scene continues to evolve, with August 2026 bringing a new beach club concept, a new beachfront venue in Lamai, expanded dining options and a major new resort development.
There are also signs of what’s coming next, including a new nightclub concept that has appeared on the island without yet revealing exactly what it has planned.
Here’s what’s new and changing around Koh Samui this month.
SunRay Social & Swim Club – SAii Koh Samui Villas
One of the most significant new concepts to arrive on Koh Samui this month is SunRay Social & Swim Club at SAii Koh Samui Villas.
The new adults-only concept launched on August 1, taking over from the resort’s existing SAii Beach Club and shifting the emphasis towards daytime socialising, wellness, music and poolside relaxation.
The concept follows the rhythm of the day, with activities including yoga, pool time, vinyl listening and all-day dining, before moving into sunset and evening programming.
SunRay also incorporates music programming curated with Bangkok-based Gadhouse, while evenings can include DJs, live musicians, fire performances and other entertainment.
The venue is open to both resort guests and outside visitors, with day passes available.
Brio Beach Club – Lamai
A new beachfront addition to Lamai, Brio Beach Club combines Italian-inspired food and drinks with a relaxed beach-club setting.
The venue describes itself as an Italian coastal concept, with pizza, seafood, pasta, spritzes and gelato alongside breakfast, lunch and evening service.
Brio has also introduced a regular programme of music and entertainment, including sunset aperitivo, Friday fire shows and Saturday DJ nights.
The result is something that sits somewhere between a restaurant, beach club and evening social venue, adding another option to Lamai’s increasingly varied beachfront scene.
Toast Cafe Bar Lamai – Now Open for Dinner
Toast Cafe Bar is not a new venue, but there has been a significant change to its offering this month with the introduction of evening dinner service.
The Lamai cafe is now open for breakfast from 8am to 5pm and dinner from 5pm to 11pm, with Wednesday currently its weekly closing day.
That gives the established daytime cafe a new evening role, expanding its appeal beyond its original breakfast and brunch focus.
PULSE – New Nightclub Concept Teased
Something new appears to be in the works on Koh Samui’s nightlife scene, although there is currently very little information available.
A new Instagram account, @pulse.samui, has appeared with the tagline:
“THE ISLAND IS ABOUT TO CHANGE FREQUENCY”
The account is currently keeping details firmly under wraps, with no opening date or substantial information about the planned venue yet available.
The post has already attracted attention from people connected to Samui’s nightlife scene, including DJs with local and regional profiles.
It’s too early to say exactly what PULSE will become, but the mysterious teaser is enough to put the project on the radar. We’ll be watching for more details as the concept develops.
Nikki Beach – New Summer Events & Pop-Ups
Nikki Beach Koh Samui in Lipa Noi has been adding a series of special events and pop-up experiences to its summer programme.
From July 31 to August 2, the resort hosted a three-day collaboration with Bangkok’s Fatboy Izakaya, bringing Japanese-inspired food, cocktails, DJs and beachfront entertainment to the venue.
August 15 saw the Bazaar by the Beach, with market stalls, live DJs, food and other entertainment transforming the beachfront into an evening bazaar.
These aren’t permanent additions, but they reflect the increasingly varied programme being offered by Samui’s established resort and beach-club venues.
Club Med Koh Samui – Groundbreaking
One of the biggest developments for Koh Samui’s future reached an important milestone in August, with the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Club Med Exclusive Collection Koh Samui taking place on August 25.
The ceremony, announced by Club Med on August 29, marks the start of development of what will become the company’s first Exclusive Collection resort in Thailand.
The resort is planned for Koh Samui’s northern coast and will have 303 rooms and more than 200 metres of private beachfront. Plans include new dining concepts, upgraded guest facilities and Club Med’s programmes for couples and families.
Club Med currently expects the resort to open in the second half of 2028.
For visitors, this is obviously a longer-term development rather than an immediate new attraction, but it is significant enough to be one of the major changes to Samui’s hospitality landscape announced this year.
More Changes to Come
August has brought several new additions and changes to Koh Samui’s hospitality and lifestyle scene, from the arrival of SunRay Social & Swim Club and Brio Beach Club to new dining options and the first major step towards the future Club Med resort.
And there are already hints of more changes ahead, with projects such as PULSE still to reveal exactly what they have planned.
