Ten hotels on Koh Samui have earned a place in the 2026 MICHELIN Guide hotel selection, with four awarded Two MICHELIN Keys and another six receiving One Key.
Announced in September, the latest selection recognises hotels that offer something special beyond a place to sleep. The MICHELIN Guide assesses the overall guest experience, considering factors including architecture and design, service, individuality, value and the connection between a hotel and its surroundings.
The distinctions are separate from MICHELIN Stars, which recognise restaurants. For travellers planning a stay on Samui, the hotel selection provides another way to discover some of the island’s most distinctive places to stay.
Two MICHELIN Keys: Four exceptional stays
The Guide’s Two-Key distinction recognises hotels offering an exceptional stay. Four Samui properties made this category in 2026.
Banyan Tree Samui
Set on a hillside above Lamai Bay, Banyan Tree Samui is an all-pool-villa resort tucked into a secluded private bay. Its combination of tropical greenery, ocean views, private beach access and personalised service makes seclusion a central part of the experience.
Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui
Located on the island’s north-western coast, Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui received its first MICHELIN Key distinction in 2026, earning Two Keys. Villas and residences sit among coconut palms on a steep tropical hillside, with views across the Gulf of Thailand. Dining, wellness and water-based activities form part of the wider resort experience.
Samujana Villas
Samujana takes a private-villa approach to luxury accommodation. Its collection of 23 contemporary villas occupies a hillside on the north-eastern coast, with properties ranging from three to eight bedrooms. Private infinity pools, generous living spaces and sea views make it particularly suited to families, groups and guests who want more privacy than a conventional hotel provides.
Six Senses Samui
Occupying a secluded headland near the island’s northern tip, Six Senses Samui combines individual villas with natural landscaping, spa facilities and a strong emphasis on wellbeing. Many villas have private pools, while the resort also offers dining experiences, including the distinctive Dining on the Rocks.
One MICHELIN Key: Six more hotels to know
One Key recognises a very special stay. The six Samui properties in this category offer a varied selection of settings and accommodation styles.
Anantara Lawana Koh Samui Resort
At the northern end of Chaweng Beach, Anantara Lawana combines beachfront resort facilities with design influenced by Samui’s Sino-Thai heritage. Highlights include ocean-facing dining, the Singing Bird Lounge and Tree Tops, a treetop dining experience.
Cape Fahn Hotel
Cape Fahn occupies a small private island just off the coast near Choeng Mon. Its pool villas, secluded setting and views across the sea offer a different experience from staying directly on one of Samui’s main beaches.
Garrya Tongsai Bay Samui
Set around a private bay in the north-east of the island, Garrya Tongsai Bay is surrounded by extensive tropical greenery. Accommodation includes suites and sea-view villas, some with private pools, with the resort’s secluded beach and natural setting central to its appeal.
Kerem Luxury Beachfront Villas
Kerem is a smaller-scale option in the Plai Laem area, comprising four luxury villas. Each has three bedrooms, a private pool and generous living space, making the property particularly relevant to families or groups looking for a private villa with hotel-style services.
Kimpton Kitalay Samui
On Choeng Mon Beach, Kimpton Kitalay brings a contemporary, village-inspired style to a beachfront resort. It has rooms, suites and villas, several restaurants and bars, a spa and a large swimming pool, with an emphasis on relaxed beachside living.
SALA Samui Choengmon Beach Resort
Also located at Choeng Mon, SALA Samui combines contemporary design with tropical surroundings and beachfront accommodation. Private-pool options, garden settings and direct access to the beach give it a different atmosphere from the larger, more activity-focused resorts.
What the MICHELIN Keys mean for visitors
The 2026 selection highlights the range of high-end accommodation available on Samui, from secluded private-island and hillside retreats to beachfront resorts and multi-bedroom villas.
It is not a ranking of every hotel on the island, nor does a Key guarantee that a property will suit every traveller or budget. Instead, the distinctions reflect the MICHELIN Guide inspectors’ assessment of the overall experience.
For anyone planning a special stay, the list is a useful starting point for comparing different parts of the island and styles of accommodation. The full selection and individual hotel profiles are available through the MICHELIN Guide’s 2026 Thailand hotel list.
